The news that a former IRA leader inside the Maze is to serve on Fermanagh DPP has been condemned by Traditional Unionist MEP Jim Allister.
“I am appalled an IRA commander such as Sean Lynch – who has never expressed any regret for his criminal actions – should be allowed to serve on a local DPP. The many police officers and ordinary civilians who suffered at the hands of the IRA’s murderous onslaught in Fermanagh will, I have no doubt, share my revulsion.
Lynch’s comments after his appointment reveal much about where Sinn Fein/IRA are at this present time. When an IRA terrorist claims that his role on the DPP is akin to his role in the Republican movement in the 1970s surely it is time for Unionist to sit up and take note. IRA/Sinn Fein is still the same revolutionary republican movement it always was. Unionists who argue otherwise are deluded.”
