MEP visits O'Kane Poultry
26 November 2007
Jim Allister MEP has paid a visit to O’Kane Poultry, where he met with Management to learn of the company’s plans for the future.
The MEP said,
“I was interested to hear how O’Kane’s is beginning to realise new opportunities arising from the closure of Farm Fed Chickens last year. I was particularly encouraged to learn of ambitious plans for growing the business, which centre on increasing hatchery capacity.”
“The agri-food industry is facing a range of challenges, including rising feed costs and huge costs to comply with new EU Nitrates and Phosphates rules, while at the same time maintaining price competitiveness. The Poultry Industry is clearly positioning itself to meet these challenges. I only hope Government will engage with the sector to create solutions, and not impede future success.”
