Developments on Task Force

Statement by Jim Allister MEP:
"I am pleased to note that President Barroso has appointed Commissioner Hubner (Regional Affairs) to run the task force relating to Northern Ireland. In this connection, as a preliminary step, she will visit Belfast on 8th June to discuss needs and objectives. I have accepted an invitation to meet with her on that occasion and look forward to urging that any EU aid should be spent on hard infrastructural needs and not wasted on frothy Peace-type projects.
I am awaiting a written reply from President Barrosso on the precise terms of reference of the task force, but anticipate receiving that shortly. It is important that the terms of reference are right."
