What a waste!

21 March 2007

DUP MEP Jim Allister has received an answer from the EU Commission to a parliamentary question which indicates that 4.8M Euros is expected to be spent on celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome (25th March) and 'Europe Day' in May.

Commenting Mr Allister said, "What a waste of hard-working taxpayers' money! To spend so much on a jamboree of  'celebration' of the start of the process that led to this failing EU, shows just how out of touch the Brussels bureaucracy is with the real needs and interests of the people of Europe. The last thing the nation states of Europe need is more extravagant propaganda on the wonders of the self-promoting EU."
