Allister Welcomes Exoneration of Declan Gormley

21 February 2013

Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:

“I welcome the fact that the public have been spared any further expense by the decision of the Department of Regional Development to apologise to Mr Gormley. After the result of his libel action against Sinn Fein this outcome was both sensible and just. Mr Gormley is to be commended for settling in this fashion.

"However, there are other outstanding issues arising from the NIW debacle which Minister Kennedy should now address, namely, an apology to Dr Lennon for the discrimination which he suffered and proper investigation of matters which emerged in the Tribunal hearing touching upon the provenance and accuracy of information supplied relating to the person actually appointed as Chairman by Conor Murphy."
