Finucane Report

12 December 2012

Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:

“While there will be immense media interest today in the publication of Sir Desmond de Silva’s report my thoughts are with the thousands of victims who will never have any report of this nature into the murder of their loved ones.

“This year saw the 25th anniversary of the Enniskillen bombing. There has been no report into the murder and suffering visited upon entirely innocent people on that day. There has been no investigation into collusion between those now in the government of Northern Ireland and those who carried out that and countless other atrocities.

“All murders during the Troubles were wrong. However, it seems that there is a much greater desire to uncover the truth surrounding some cases than others. With so many unsolved IRA murders – into which there have been no expensive reports – the families of many victims have come to believe that there is a hierarchy of victims in Northern Ireland.”
