Sinn Fein Support for Terror as Clear as Ever
02 November 2012
Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:
"No doubt, those in attendance at the NSMC meeting never even paused, particularly the First Minister, to reflect upon the fact that the very structures within which they met and, most especially, the presence of IRA commander McGuinness, were living testimony to the uncomfortable reality that in Northern Ireland terrorism pays. It having worked - and continuing to work - for McGuinness and his IRA, the current practitioners of IRA terror conclude it can work for them. Indeed, the tactics are exactly the Provo template: unrest inside the jail, matched by murder outside.
“And two events today exposed the double standards of Sinn Fein/IRA when it comes to terrorism. The first was Raymond McCartney’s comments on the Nolan Show this morning when, after being challenged as to the difference between the murder of Prison Officers by the Provisionals and yesterday’s murder, he justified the IRA campaign by saying that at time there was “no alternative”. Shameful the DUP chair of the Justice Committee who was appearing on the programme at the same time, Paul Givan, didn’t utter one word of challenge to McCartney’s disgusting comments.
“Later on, Gerry Kelly – who infamously shot a prison officer in the head – demanded the release of Padraic Wilson who today appeared in court charged with IRA offences. There was no suggestion from Kelly that justice should be allowed to run its course. Rather, he stated that Sinn Fein will continue to support Wilson.
“Just as the Provos did, so their blood brothers did yesterday. And Sinn Fein/IRA evidently remains wedded to the justification of terror.”
