One approach for Ground Zero, another for the Maze

12 September 2012

Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister:-

“Daniel Libeskind, the architect who designed the Ground Zero memorial, is now set to design the Provo Project at the Maze. He says it will give voice to all the stakeholders, in which he expressly includes the terrorist prisoners.

“Could you imagine the uproar if he’d suggested giving voice to Al-Qaeda in the Ground Zero scheme.? Yet, in Northern Ireland terms this is what he proposes for the Maze: a voice for terrorists!

“What an outrage, compounded by the fact that it comes with the blessing of a Unionist First Minister.

“There should be no place in the Maze project for reflecting the story of terrorist prisoners, just as there is no place at Ground Zero for Al-Qaeda’s story.”
