Damning Indictment of Murphy & Sinn Fein

20 June 2012

Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister:-

"This week's Industrial Tribunal findings against Conor Murphy when DRD Minister are a damning indictment of him and how he and his party conduct themselves in government.

"The unanimous finding of religious discrimination by Murphy not only exposes him, but also Sinn Fein as brazen practitioners of sectarian discrimination.

"Happily, Murphy is now out of office, but the Tribunal's findings also raise questions for the present Head of the Civil Service, in regard to inaction over a practice in DRD, under Murphy, of Catholic applicants being twice as likely to be appointed as Protestant applicants. This indication of institutionalised sectarian discrimination is something for which Dr McKibben, as Permanent Secretary, must also carry responsibility.

"I will be pursuing these issues in the Assembly."
