It's still 'Brits Out' Marty

30 April 2012

Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister:

“Tonight’s speech by McGuinness has nothing to do with saving money, efficiency or good government. Rather, it’s driven by the same old ‘Brits out’ Provo mantra.

“Getting rid of the NIO and the Secretary of State, like removing tax and every other power from London, is but another part of the IRA/Sinn Fein strategy to cut all British links. The same anti-British venom that shaped McGuinness as OC of Northern Command still motivates him as Joint First Minister.

“It is a sad reflection on Ian Paisley’s judgement and actions that tonight McGuinness was able to invoke his words to buttress his madcap pitch for Irish unity.”
