Allister Exposes Culture Minister's Bigotry In Assembly
12 December 2011
Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:
“Today we had further proof – if it were needed – of the bigotry of Culture Minister Carol Cullen.
“Next year we will celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Westminster’s Department of Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS) is taking the lead across the UK to mark this event but when I asked Minister Cullen what contact she had with DCMS in relation to the matter and whether she would meet with HM the Queen if she visits Northern Ireland next year I was informed that the answer was “No to both questions”.
“I assume that the Minister meant that she has had no contact with the DCMS and it is evident that she will not meet HM the Queen if she were to visit our Province.
“Cullen’s response was an insult to the majority of people in Northern Ireland who hold the monarchy in very high regard.
“Her bigoted answer today again demonstrates her unfitness for office and exposes all of Sinn Fein/IRA’s fine words about wanting to see a shared future for what they are.”
