Allister Rounds on Farry's Plan to Bleed Stran to Death
28 November 2011
Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:
“Minister Farry’s statement this morning in the Assembly was churlish and vindictive in regard to Stranmillis.
“It would seem that, frustrated in his ambition to eliminate Stranmillis, the Minister now hopes that financially it will bleed to death.
“It would better suit the Minister to face the fact that the merger is not viable, support Stranmillis and, instead of talking it down, try building it up.
“I took the opportunity afforded by questions to the Ministerial statement to put it to Dr Farry that a good start, as a confidence-building measure within Stranmillis, though it is an autonomous body, would be the resignation of the present chairman of the board of governors and the replacement of him with someone who actually wants Stranmillis and wants it to succeed.”
