Allister Tables No Confidence Motion in Ford

16 November 2011

TUV leader Jim Allister tabled the following no confidence motion in the Justice Minister this afternoon:

That this Assembly rejects any change to the emblems and name of the Northern Ireland Prison Service and Her Majesty's Prisons, deplores the intention of the Minister of Justice to permit such change without the consent of the Assembly and in consequence declares no confidence in the Minister.

Commenting Mr Allister said:
“David Ford’s attempt to bring such radical change to the Prison Service without so much as consulting the Assembly shows that he is unfit for office. If Peter Robinson really is so exercised about Mr Ford’s plans doubtless the DUP will back this proposal. Remember, Alliance only hold the Ministry because it was gifted to them by the DUP and Sinn Fein/IRA.”
