Allister Presses Kennedy on Ballymoney Water

16 November 2011

On Monday North Antrim MLA Jim Allister pressed DRD Minister Danny Kennedy to address the on-going issues surrounding water in the Ballymoney issue.

Speaking after the exchange Mr Allister said:

“It beggars belief that, in 2011, residents are still having to boil their water almost a week on from the problem having been discovered. In the Assembly the Minister referred to Exercise Watermill, but, in Ballymoney, it is “Exercise Water Boil”. It is simply unacceptable that the Department has taken so long to get its act together.

“Since questions to the Minister we have learned that over 1,000 people will have to suffer a second week of having to boil their water.

“Health and public safety must of course always be the priority but there should never be any issue surrounding the safety of drinking water in Western Europe.”
