Allister seeks help for MS sufferers

04 July 2005

"MS sufferers in Northern Ireland and elsewhere in the UK believe that they are being denied access to available drugs which could ease their suffering.  The European Parliament, in December 2003, debated the report recommending improved access to drugs and services for MS sufferers across the EU.  In order to focus attention back on this issue and to attempt to get some progress, I have tabled the following question to the Commission:

What steps has the Commission taken to promote a Code of Best Practice in regard to the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis pursuant to the adoption, by the European Parliament in December 2003, of a report on this subject?  Generally, would the Commission report upon steps taken to improve access to drugs and services for sufferers of Multiple Sclerosis across the European Union and indicate what, if any, agenda exists to improve the situation?"
