Allister Comments on Health Redundancies
01 November 2011
“On Monday I attempted to establish just how many jobs were to go in the health service because £15 million was allocated by to fund redundancies. The Finance Minister was unable to furnish me with the details so this morning I tabled a written question to Minister Poots asking how many redundancies are anticipated, and when.
“I note that at today’s meeting of the Health Committee Mr Poots refused to rule out the possibility of front line health workers losing their jobs. This announcement will cause considerable alarm in our already overstretched health service. Yes we are facing tough economic times but it is essential that all in our power is done to protect the frontline services which we all depend upon”.
