McGuinness fails the truth test, again

26 September 2011

Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister MLA:-

"The fresh focus on McGuinness' role in the luring back of Frank Hegarty for murder is a timely reminder of why this lying terrorist godfather is unfit to hold office anywhere. The debate on the suitability of someone, so patently close to murder, to be President of the Republic of Ireland points up the double standard applied to Northern Ireland, where the same McGuiness was ushered into the highest office in the land by those who once exposed and opposed him, but now facilitate him as our joint ruler.

"If, McGuinness is unfit to be ROI President - which he patently is - then he is unfit to be Joint First Minister here. The plot to murder Frank Hegarty, and many more besides, should be no more heinous in the Repuiblic than it was in Northern Ireland, so equally McGuinness' bloody history should rule him out of office here. As McGuinness' record is revisitied and put under the spotlight, it should also cause the DUP to reflect on how and why they can sustain him as their Joint First Minister.

"In light of the renewed information from the sisters of Frank Hegarty, the PSNI should now be re-opening the investigation of the Hegarty murder. You don't have to pull the trigger to be guilty of murder!"
