Allister condemns destruction of North Antrim

13 September 2011

TUV Leader and North Antrim MLA Jim Allister has described the Boundary Commission proposal affecting North Antrim as "a decimation of North Antrim which is devoid of both logic and reason".

"North Antrim historically and factually is a natural homogeneous whole. Under these proposals not only is it unnaturally sliced across the middle, but even the Ballymena borough is mutilated, with some attached to an area extending to Coleraine and some to a constituency including Carrickfergus. The historic and natural order has been devastated, removing the sense of place and identity that has existed for generations."
