Policing function usurped by thugs in yellow jackets

19 August 2011

Jim Allister MLA has hit out at Connor Murphy who has defended Sinn Fein representatives who directed traffic off main roads in Camlough to the weekend 'Terror Fest'. According to the Newsletter (17/8) Sinn Fein members performed the policing role at event commemorating the IRA hunger strikers.

Commenting on the event Mr Allister stated:

“It is my understanding that traffic in Camlough was diverted by individuals wearing jackets that clearly affiliated them to SF. Many people would be horrified by the prospect of an event commemorating those associated with acts of terrorism. Many people would equally feel intimidated by the presence of people promoting such an event taking over the public rosads and diverting traffic.
This event further acts as a reminder of how inexplicably linked SF is to the IRA and how edded Sinn Fein continues to be to the glorification of terrorism.

I am calling for an explanation from the Chief Constable as to why he tolerated the policing function being usurped by thugs in yellow jackets."
