McLaughin Kingsmill Comments Nauseating

22 June 2011

Responding to the comments of Mitchel McLaughin on the Kingsmill atrocity TUV leader Jim Allister said:

“For Mitchel McLaughin to talk about the need for “truth” in relation to this dreadful incident while at the same time claim that he believes the denials of the IRA is truly nauseating. The evidence of IRA culpability is, and always has been, overwhelming. Any objective observer would have to conclude that the IRA were behind these brutally savage killings.

“The IRA’s blatant sectarian bloodlust may not fit with McLaughin’s attempt to portray terrorists as romantic freedom fighters but they are nonetheless accurate.

“One of the weapons used in the attack was later recovered during an attempted murder at Belleek, Newry in 1976. All three of those convicted after the attack were found guilt of IRA membership. The men were also linked to another weapon used in the attack.

“The tests on nine of the eleven weapons involved revelled  links to numerous IRA attacks.

“McLaughin’s comments are disingenuous in the extreme and will be treated with utter contempt by the families of those who lost loved ones.”
