More terrorists in Government
16 May 2011
Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:
“Today, courtesy of the DUP/Sinn Fein alliance, we saw the elevation of yet more convicted terrorists to the heart of Northern Ireland’s government.
“The new Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure is a former IRA prisoner and member of Sinn Fein’s so-called POW department. In 1989 she was sentenced to 8 years on explosive charges but released after 4. The fact that she will hold such a sensitive post in the run-up to the centenary of the 1916 Rising will doubtless worry many Unionists.
“Joining her round the cabinet table will be another convicted bomber, Matina Anderson. Add to that the expertise of Martin McGuinness and Northern Ireland really does have a cabinet notable for its abundance of terrorist expertise.
“Factor into that mix that Sinn Fein/IRA will continue to hold the Education portfolio and Northern Ireland doesn't have a lot to look forward to from Stormont in the next four years."
