Stale, failed parties of Stormont only offer ‘MORE OF THE SAME’

04 May 2011

Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister:-

“As last night’s debate  - which typically expunged the right of any non-Executive voice to be heard – demonstrated, all that the parties responsible for four years of abject failure at Stormont have to offer is, MORE OF THE SAME. Four more years of terrorists in government, of bickering deadlock, of disastrous Catriona Ruane, of inability to put in place a strategy to deal with runaway unemployment, of an underfunded health service and of scandalous squander of scarce resources on such follies as the Maze Shrine, the Irish language and whatever it takes to keep Sinn Fein happy.

“The cosy DUP/Sinn Fein bond was again evident, with Peter Robinson only interested in sniping at fellow unionists, but in awe of his buddy McGuinness. All of which exposes the insincerity and hypocrisy of a last minute PEB which tried out on the gullible some Jekyll and Hyde reversion to a being anti-Sinn Fein. But, only, of course, till the election is over, because where will every DUP MLA be this time next week – back propping up IRA/Sinn Fein in government and helping on their destructive agenda.

“TUV is the real alternative in this election. We say we can’t go on like this. We can’t go on trampling underfoot the basics of democracy – the right to vote failed parties out of government and the right to an Opposition. TUV is the catalyst for change in Stormont. More of the same isn’t working and will never work.”
