Put Strength back into Unionism

01 May 2011

Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister:-

“After four years of Sinn Fein running rings round the DUP at Stormont many unionists are demoralised. Ruane’s unchecked rampage through education and Murphy’s unaccountability over his mishandling of the water crisis, has left the promise that Sinn Fein ministers would be subject to control in shreds. Not much talk now of ‘putting manners on Sinn Fein’ as the DUP’s 2007 Manifesto boasted.

“On the contrary, it is unionists who have had to make further concessions to keep Sinn Fein happy and even get them back to work after their 5 month strike, culminating in the humiliating Hillsborough staging post deal where policing and justice was surrendered for nothing on parading and the DUP Showmen melted away. Now, the DUP is so compliant McGuinness can speak only of ‘Peter and I’.

“People are looking for Unionists willing and able to stand up to Sinn Fein. They know they won’t find them in the DUP or UUP, but that only TUV will take the battle to the IRA godfathers.

“Where will four more years of toadying to Sinn Fein leave us? In a much darker place. It’s time to put strength back into Unionism. It’s time to vote TUV.”
