Rewarding terrorism breeds more terrorism

04 April 2011

Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister:-

“The heinous murder of Con Kerr requires not just unequivocal condemnation but facing up to why there is resurgence in IRA terrorism. The uncomfortable reality is that the present political process, built as it is on rewarding terrorism and the corollary of dumbing down security at the behest of those so rewarded, in fact induces others to do as the Provos did.

“It is pointless for Peter Robinson to say murder does not advance the cause of the murderer one millimetre when IRA Godfather McGuinness shares his office as testimony to how violence worked for his IRA.

“When the murderers of Con Kerr look at McGuinness they conclude that what worked for IRA/Sinn Fein could work for them. They are following the Provo template. There is no difference between the brutal murder of Con Kerr and the murder of 300 police officers by the Provos. Murders which are still justified by Adams and McGuinness. Of course, these are points journalists indoctrinated in ‘peace process’ politics never dare ask.

“One of the resulting dangers is that soon we will again hear puerile calls for engagement with the dissidents to explore how they too could be bought off. Facing down terrorism was only ever the correct response to murder and so it is today, despite the fact that those who hitherto have climbed to power on the back of terrorism will resist the necessary security response.

“In making this statement I am conscious that it is unlikely to ever see the light of day in the BBC or UTV, or other outlets where buttressing the process is the defining issue in editorial judgements.”
