Vote DUP - get Sinn Fein

29 March 2011

DUP offers 4 more years of Failure

Responding to the launch of the DUP’s election campaign, TUV Leader Jim Allister said:-

“Behind all the boast and bluster of the DUP election launch is the inevitable reality – Vote DUP and get Sinn Fein! IRA/Sinn Fein back in government for another four years of ruination in whatever departments they control, courtesy of the DUP’s compliant buy in to Belfast Agreement devolution.

“That is the essence of what they offer; four more years of Sinn Fein veto, of whatever it takes to keep their disruptive partner happy, because power, any power, is the overriding imperative.

“As for the pledges made, they are of no more worth than those shredded in 2007. Empty promises about democratising Stormont and moving towards normal politics should fool no one, because the arrangements the DUP sustains gives Sinn Fein a veto on all these issues.

So, all the DUP offers is four more years of the same. The same deadlock when Sinn Fein needs more, the same stagnation which the lack of a common vision in government guarantees, the same excessive waste in useless north/south bodies and the Irish language and the same vacuous promises but no product.

“Unless and until the cornerstones of democracy are restored with the people, as everywhere else, given the right to vote parties out of government and have the basic right of an Opposition, then so long will this Stormont under Sinn Fein/DUP rule continue to fail.”
