UUP still a tainted part of failed Executive
10 March 2011
Press Release by Alex Elliott TUV Candidate Fermanagh South Tyrone
"Though the UUP voted against the budget they remain a tainted part of the failed Executive. Yet, they get no thanks from the DUP/Sinn Fein cabal which rules the roost in Stormont. All the UUP’s continued presence in this malfunctioning Executive does is give cover to an ungrateful DUP, which takes every opportunity to kick Tom Elliott’s ministers.
"With the UUP having failed to follow the logic of their own position and to have made any difference inside the executive, I believe increasingly unionist voters, appalled by the waste and non-delivery of Stormont, see in TUV the means to express their dismay and demand real change. And to demand it now not in four or more years.
"With the DUP in cosy collusion with IRA/Sinn Fein, they are never going to bring democratic change to Stormont. It does, however, behove other unionists, who see the need, to act decisively and together to push forward the agenda for change. TUV is willing to do that.
"We have seen many faces of the DUP over the past four years, but I have never seen them as pleased with themselves, as they walk hand in hand with those who for many years destroyed our country and murdered and butchered its people. Is this the new face of DUP who have more in common with the friends of IRA than with its fellow Unionists? Is this the type of spectacle to which the UUP should be giving cover as Executive members?
"This budget will not meet the economic needs of Ulster and will do nothing to help kick start Northern Irelands ailing economy. It will create further gloom for our people in lost jobs, more expense in a failed educational system, delays in delivery of health and a continued recessional economy."
