Stormont squander on botched land deal

09 March 2011

Commenting on the loss of almost £197m to the Northern Ireland taxpayer on a botched land deal at Crossnacreevy, TUV economics spokesman David Vance said; “As the failed Executive prepares to force through a Budget which will lead to severe economic cuts, it is incredible to discover that due to the utter incompetence of the Department of Finance and the Department of Agriculture, land worth as little as £2.28m was purchased for £200m!

"The First Minister Peter Robinson needs to promptly explain how such gross financial negligence happened,  because it occurred on his watch as Finance Minister. How many frontline jobs could be saved had we still had access to this £200m? How many other Departments have had their budgets reduced because of the wretched bungling of Mr Robinson,DFP and DARD?

"TUV calls on Peter Robinson to publicly apologise for the gargantuan failure of a Department under his control and to spell out why he did nothing to prevent it.”
