McGuinness still the bully boy - Executive imploding in vicious power struggle

18 February 2011

Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister:-

“After the latest public outbreak of vicious infighting and turmoil within the Stormont regime, what more proof does anyone need of the unworkability of this dysfunctional Executive? It isn’t functioning, it isn’t delivering, and it’s a huge embarrassment. It’s as far removed from good government as could be imagined.

“No one should be surprised, because the common cause and vision essential to make coalition work is absent from the absurd system of mandatory coalition. Hence, as now, it inevitably deteriorates into a useless shambles.

“The venom of the latest synchronised DUP/Sinn Fein attacks on their junior partners, because they dare to withhold support from their botched budget, is a reminder of the ease with which McGuinness, in particular, reverts to bully boy tactics.

“The UUP and SDLP should find the courage to quit this irreparably fractured executive and leave the DUP and Sinn Fein to the mess they have created.”
