TUV demands one law for all

21 January 2011

Upper Bann TUV member and party spokesman David Vance has demanded police action over Sunday’s planned illegal march in Lurgan.

“The flouting of the law intended for Sunday by republicans in Lurgan, as they protest the lawful detention of a convicted double killer, is a gauntlet which the Chief Constable and the Justice Minister must pick up. There can be no excuse of lack of prior knowledge – the propaganda notices are right outside the police station.

“Two weeks ago IRA/Sinn Fein defied the law with an illegal parade in Rosslea. So  far, nothing has been done about it. But if Orangemen dared to walk 50 yards from their hall to  church in Rasharkin they’d be hauled before the courts. Likewise if Orange feet touched the Garvaghy Road, but before our eyes we see the double standard of apparent immunity for republican agitators.

“This cannot go on. Action must be taken to demonstrate that no one is above the law and that the law applies equally, even in Kilwilkie.”
