Remembering Kingsmills 35 Years On

05 January 2011

Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:

“Today we remember the dreadful events of 35 years ago when 10 innocent men were brutally gunned down for no other reason than they were Protestants. Even among the many acts of slaughter committed by Republicans this event stands out as one of particular infamy.

“It is sobering to recall that not only have those responsible never been brought to justice but that the apologists for the IRA’s violence now sit in government over a Province they remain committed to destroying.

“It is my hope that the forthcoming HET report in to the atrocity will perhaps shed some new light on Kingsmills. However, unless someone appears in court charged with the murders people will justifiably feel that justice has been denied.’
