Robinson discusses Maze Shrine project in Brussels

10 December 2010

Statement  by TUV Leader Jim Allister

Though Peter Robinson has chosen not to mention it, in fact part of the Joint First Ministers’ discussions in Brussels with Commission President Barroso centred on promotion of the IRA Shrine at the Maze for which Brussels aid is being sought.

It is scandalous that this Provo Project was part of the DUP Leader’s agenda with Barroso in Brussels as he partnered McGuinness in their negotiations.

Why is Peter Robinson so silent on this issue, though McGuinness could not resist boasting of Barroso’s interest in the project? I call on Peter Robinson to come clean on his discussions in Brussels about the Provo Project, which is set to so blight the wider development at the Maze site.  How much EU aid is going to be wasted on this centre for the glorification of terrorism? And, how much local public money will be added to top up the EU funding sought by the Joint First Ministers?
