New TUV publication

05 November 2010

New TUV publication

In the run up to its annual Conference next Saturday (13th November) TUV has launched a new publicity leaflet tackling the economic issues, the operation of Stormont and the threat of a Sinn Fein First Minister.

Identifying excessive waste at Stormont, including the half billion spent since 2007 on the north/south bodies and the bloated bureaucracy of devolution, TUV attacks the ongoing failure of the Executive to agree a budgetary response to cuts, calling for ‘an employment strategy, not a language strategy’.

Setting out its own vision for Stormont, TUV says it is not about wrecking Stormont, but getting a better Stormont: one that works, where voters can decide who governs by being able to vote failing parties out of office, and where government is formed through voluntary coalition, not unworkable compulsory coalition, and where the basic right to an Opposition is respected.

In a lengthy article, entitled ‘Facts the DUP don’t want you to know’, TUV Leader Jim Allister recounts how the legislative change, which allows a Sinn Fein First Minister, came about and the DUP’s facilitating role in failing to oppose it, because they saw electoral advantage in creating the threat of McGuinness as First Minister.
