Welcome for police pension change

Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister QC:-
“As one of those who campaigned for reversal of the inequity whereby successful pension appeals by injured police officers were not being backdated, I welcome the change announced by the review published today.
“It was both incompatible with established due process and common sense that an appeal could be won but the increase in pension not backdated to the date of the original finding which was being overturned. I am glad that my argument that such was irreconcilable with basic legal and human rights criteria has been accepted.
“I trust that those successful appellants wronged to date by denial of backdating will now be swiftly recompensed.”
