Unionism has no more concessions to make - Allister

20 August 2010

Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister:-

“Talking to terrorists, surreptitiously or otherwise, is not just wrong but destructive of democracy, because it inevitably legitimises and in fact encourages further terrorism. The present upsurge in terror itself demonstrates the point, with the Provo off-spring of today having seen that violence worked for their predecessors to the point that they are now enthroned in government.

“Thus the Government in engaging with terrorists will guarantee terror in perpetuity as succeeding generations look for their reward. Unionism has no more concessions to make, yet talking to terrorists is premised on fresh gains for republicanism. Hence, despite all their deceptive rhetoric, the vested interest of Sinn Fein in keeping the pot boiling.”
