Murphy should resign - Allister

17 August 2010

Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister QC:-

"If DRD's Permanent Secretary's position is untenable, and so it is, then, so too is that of Conor Murphy, because only last night he was underwriting Mr Priestly's actions and assuring everyone that he had satisfied himself the Independent Review Team report was truly independent. His flawed judgement in defending the indefensible cannot be remedied by a face-saving about-turn. He is head of DRD. The buck stops with him. So, he should go. It is not enough to try and sacrifice the Permanent Secretary as the scapegoat."
