Lord Trimble right about one thing

11 August 2010

Commenting on Lord Trimble's contribution to the News Letter's 'Union 2021' series, TUV Leader Jim Allister said:-

"Whereas Lord Trimble is utterly wrong to claim the Union is secure under his Belfast Agreement, which saw the pivotal 1920 Act repealed, terrorists brought into government and north/south executive bodies established, he is absolutely right about the duplicity and connivance which saw the DUP permit the legislative change which now allows a Sinn Fein First Minister, because they saw it as a stick with which to beat voters into voting DUP.

"I support the call that all unionist parties should now lobby the government to reverse this disastrous change. We already have the appalling actions of the DUP in November 2006, when in parliament they sold the unionist title deeds to the office of First Minister, now, let's see what action they, and the Unionist Party through its Tory allies, are prepared to take to redeem and reverse this folly."
