Cookstown bomb attack

10 August 2010

Statement by TUV

"Today's further booby-trap bomb attack is evidence of the resurgence in IRA activity which lax security policies have facilitated. But given that the target was an ex-security force member it bears out our warning that, as with the template of the Provo campaign, such persons would become targets. Many such people, particularly in Mid Ulster, have been made more vulnerable by the folly of restricting personal protection weapons, which was especially prevalent in that area.

"Clearly, mere words of condemnation will not stem this rising tide of terrorism. It requires a resolute and robust security response, which, predictably, Sinn Fein will resist, making vulnerable citizens even more likely to be attacked by the Provos off-spring."
