Time to waken up to terror threat - Allister
09 August 2010
Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister:-
"TUV has long warned that the inevitable consequence of rewarding terrorism at Stormont would be more terrorism. Hence the present upsurge in Provo-style terror and tactics is, sadly, no surprise.
"Alas, it has been made all the easier by the deliberate reduction in police resources and removal of the vital Special Branch component, all at the behest of Sinn Fein. In consequence we now stand ill equipped to deal with what I fear is coming. Terrorist activity, aided by Provo expertise, is rising while police numbers are falling.
"I might add that I am not deceived by the double speak of Sinn Fein. They are past masters in duplicity. Mere condemnation means nothing when not matched by support for rooting out the terrorists or handing them over from the communities which IRA/Sinn Fein still control. Indeed, the Sinn Fein willingness to use this present terror to their advantage is evident from their calls that the response should lie in strengthening 'the peace process', which is mere code for more and swifter concessions to the goal of Irish unity that they share with their terrorist off-spring.
"On the contrary, what is required is a robust security response, with military support if necessary, to nip in the bud what, left unchecked, will be a reincarnation of the Provo terror campaign."
