Another massive DUP Climbdown and Provo Victory

02 August 2010

Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister QC:-

"Make no mistake 'Conflict Resolution Centre' is subtle code for 'Provo Shrine'. Instead of cleansing the Maze site of its shrine potential by delisting and demolishing the ugly prison buildings, as successive DUP ministers could have done, the DUP has rolled over to Sinn Fein demands that central to Maze development is development of the shrine project. And, now, to oversee its implementation even former IRA prisoners are to sit on the Board, just as, courtesy of the DUP, they sit in government!

"In the early months of this Executive the First Minister sought to deny that EU money would ever be wasted on a 'Conflict Centre', now in the latest concession to Sinn Fein such funds will be lavished on a project which will blight the entire site. Little wonder Martin McGuinness can't contain his glee."
