More DUP spin and deceit

25 March 2010

Responding to the DUP announcement of phasing out double jobbing TUV Leader Jim Allister said:

“Implicit in this long overdue move – which would never have come about without the community revolt against part-timers on full-time pay – is an admission that for years the DUP has been short-changing the electorate through their double and triple jobbing. Finally exposed they have been embarrassed into this new found stance, though Mr Robinson hopes to remain a part-time MP on full-time pay.”

Turning to Mr Robinson’s attacks on TUV Mr Allister said:

“For a man who is so beholden to IRA/Sinn Fein that he can’t even sign a letter as First Minister without McGuinness’ approval, it is rich for Mr Robinson to talk of anyone as Sinn Fein’s stooge. He is not just the ally, partner, stooge and accomplice of IRA/Sinn Fein in government, but they are only there – wreaking havoc with our education system and now to be further empowered over policing and justice – because the DUP put them there. It is the DUP, not TUV which are Sinn Fein’s compliant buddies in government.

“As for the threat of a Sinn Fein First Minister we can thank Mr Robinson himself for that, because he was the man that saw to it that not a single DUP MP spoke against or tabled an amendment to stop that monstrous change in the law, when the legislation came before the Commons on 21 November 2006. Why, because he thought creating the prospect of Sinn Fein becoming First Minister would be a very clever device to coerce Unionists into voting DUP. So, it was Mr Robinson himself who primed that particular ticking time bomb against the unionist people.

“The DUP supposed anti-Sinn Fein stance is entirely phoney. They are the enablers and deliverers of Sinn Fein rule. Propping up Sinn Fein in government by day, while pretending opposition on the door steps didn’t wash last June and won’t con anyone in this election.”
