Put Executive Out of its Misery

15 December 2009

"It's time this useless, failed Executive was put out of its misery. This farce cannot go on.

"How long do the long suffering people of Northern Ireland have to go on experiencing and paying for a form of government which can never work. Mandatory coalition could not have failed more spectacularly. It's time to move on with devolution built on the fundamentals of the right to vote a party out of office and the right to have an Opposition - the very things mandatory coalition denies. Hence, the deadlock and spectacle of today's shambolic regime.

"As for the devolving of policing and justice who in their right mind could think this regime ever fit to exercise such vital powers. Yesterday's events underscore the folly of ever empowering this dysfunctional executive with any more powers, never mind the most sensitive powers of all."
