Allister welcomes Tebbit's timely antidote to Clintonmania
12 October 2009
Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister
"On a day of Clintonmania, for me, the far more timely and relevant contribution came from Lord Tebbit, on the 25th commeration of the IRA bombing in Brighton, when he aptly descibed Joint First Minister McGuinness as an "unrepentant terrorist".
"On an occasion when international pressure is again trying to strongarm Unionism in pursuit of attainment of the key republican objective of ending British control of policing and justice, though embarrassing for the facilitators of IRA/Sinn Fein rule, it is refreshing that Lord Tebbit should remind all of the the pedigree and infamy of those demanding to meddle in policing and justice. I trust Lord Tebbit's words will prick the conscience of those who ushered IRA/Sinn Fein into government and who would now reward them further by gifting policing and justice to an Executive in which unrepentant terrorists hold the sway of veto.
As for Mrs Clinton's lecture, its adulation of the Belfast Agreement should equally prick the conscience of those who once opposed but now implement that nefarious appeasement of terrorism."
