Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister QC
"Though there is dissension in the DUP over the devolution of policing and justice to an Executive and Assembly in which IRA/Sinn Fein holds sway, I do not expect the dissenters to find the courage to hold the line.
While Gregory Campbell and William McCrea made speeches in last Monday's debate with tone and content distinctly different from the stance of their leader, just as they rolled over on the big issue of terrorists in government in 2007, so, I fear, they will wilt again.
Mr Robinson is now committed to proactively selling the deal once the fiction that the money is in place is created. So we will have the spectacle of the DUP Leader singing from the Sinn Fein hymn book which at the page marked '2005 Manifesto' says, “Our strategy is for a new all-Ireland policing and justice system. That cannot be achieved without the transfer of policing and justice powers away from London, into an Executive and Assembly and the all-Ireland institutions.”
