750 devices - the result of a failing security policy

24 September 2009

Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister

"The statistics of 750 IRA devices in 2 years are figures which the NIO and those who pretend normality have sought to conceal. The fact that IRA republicans have been able to be so active is an indictment of a failing security policy, the direct product of Patten. Further diminishing police numbers, including the Reserve, and closing police stations will only facilitate the climate where republican terrorists can flourish.

"Moreover, this scale of republican operations would not be possible if IRA/Sinn Fein was doing it all it could to call off the dogs. They know the identify of so called dissident activists because they trained them, but yet they apparently operate freely. Not for the first time, I suspect, IRA/Sein Fein sees potential in some degree of continuing surrogate violence."
