Allister hits out at Sinn Fein over latest attacks in Rasharkin

19 September 2009

Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister QC

“The quantity and nature of the serial attacks on Rasharkin Orange Halls are such that they could not be taking place without local community support. Using a tractor to knock down the wall and trying to break down the door is not a random or inconspicuous act. Rather, it is a very public manifestation of cultural hatred from which local residents do not apparently dissent as none are exercised to report such to the police. The conclusion that this Sinn Fein controlled community does not want a Prod about the place is inescapable.

“I have not doubt that if Sinn Fein wanted these constant attacks to stop then they could bring them to an end. Instead Sinn Fein seeks, enjoys and exploits the community instability and tension which they create.”
