Shambolic Executive falls out and chides and fights

09 September 2009

Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister QC:

In the last 24 hours we have had a snapshot of just how worthless and unworkable the Stormont Executive really is.

Police and other intimidated families languish in despair, waiting for help under SPED, and the response of Government is unseemly point-scoring between the DFP and DSD Ministers. Government which can’t deliver for people in such dire need is not worth having.

Then, we have the Joint First Ministers in a bad-tempered spat when the penny drops with Peter Robinson that at St Andrews he bought a pup. No one should be surprised that Belfast Agreement devolution is falling apart before our eyes. Being built on sand it is bound to collapse. Having begun to admit the inevitable, Peter Robinson show allow the logic of his latest demands to overcome the lure of office that enticed him and rid us now of this wretched, failing, terrorist-inclusive Executive.

Belfast Agreement devolution can never work and the sooner that reality is faced the better. Only then, is there any prospect of attaining durable, democratic and workable devolution.”
