Allister says 'thank you' to farming community
11 June 2009
Traditional Unionist MEP Jim Allister has thanked the farming community for their support demonstrated in last Thursday’s European Elections.
The outgoing MEP said,
“Securing 70,000 votes in a European election is a tremendous result for a newly formed Political Party. While it is disappointing that we do not have the opportunity to go back to Brussels at this juncture, I am confident that TUV has a strong platform from which to contest future successful political campaigns.”
“It has been an honour to have served the people of Northern Ireland over the past 5 years in Europe, and to have represented the interests of our farmers and agri-food industry within the European Union institutions. Northern Ireland agriculture deserves and requires dedicated representation in Europe, and so I wish Diane Dodds and Jim Nicholson well”.
