Statement by Jim Allister MEP:
"I welcome the decision by the “Pride of the Bann” Flute band to voluntarily reroute the parade on Friday evening.
"This initiative will contribute to an alleviation of tensions in the area following the dreadful murder of Kevin McDaid which has shocked people across our Province and further afield.
"It would have been inappropriate for the parade to take its original route with a family grief stricken and preparing to bury a father murdered at the hands of psychopathic thugs.
"There must be an increase of police resources in the area so that all sides of the community can live together."
