Allister answers Dodds

21 May 2009

“Diane Dodds’s latest statement drips with both arrogance and hypocrisy. Firstly, she states that there is a three way split in Unionism in this election because of the entry of a wrecker. The truth, of course, is that the DUP have run a vote splitter against two sitting MEPs. It may come as a surprise to the DUP but they do not have a Divine Right to speak for Unionism.

“Secondly, she pretends concern at Sinn Fein/IRA topping the poll. This is utter nonsense. If the DUP were genuinely concerned about the political advancement of the Provisionals they would not have granted three convicted terrorists places at the cabinet table. You cannot elevate Martin McGuinness to the position of Joint First Minister and then pretend to be worried about de Brun.

“The DUP cannot issue statement after statement lauding the supposed merits of terrorist inclusive government while at the same time claiming that their goal in this election is to defeat Sinn Fein.

“The truth is that as she has gone around the Province the reality is beginning to dawn on Mrs Dodds that the DUP vote is on the slide and that the man who topped the poll in 2004 is the man to do it again.”
