Welcome for Gurkha announcement

Statement from sitting Traditional Unionist MEP Jim Allister:
“I greatly welcome the belated announcement that Gurkhas who have served more than 4 years in the Army will have the right to settle in the United Kingdom if they wish.
“It is nothing short of a disgrace that only after a high profile campaign did the Government bow to pressure. The people of the United Kingdom have a great sense of justice and they appreciate the sacrifices which the Gurkhas have made for our nation, winning no less than 26 Victoria Crosses in the process. Not just inside the UK but also internationally they are recognized for their bravery.
“Today a wrong has been righted.”
